Aegon I Targaryen e il drago Balerion conquistano Westeros

Fondatore della dinastia Targaryen e conquistatore di Westeros, si guadagnò il nome di "Aegon il Conquistatore". Prese le sue due sorelle Visenya e Rhaenys come mogli e generò figli da entrambe. In gioventù combatté vittoriosamente contro Volantis nella guerra per il controllo di Lys insieme al Re della Tempesta, Pentosh e Tyrosh. In seguito Aegon e le sue sorelle condussero un piccolo esercito dalla loro isola di Roccia del Drago fino al continente di Westeros, dando così inizio alla Guerra di Conquista nell'universo di "Games of Thrones". Con l'aiuto dei tre draghi, Vhagar, Meraxes e Balerion, il Terrore Nero, essi sconfissero e sottomisero sei dei Sette Regni fondando una dinastia che sarebbe durata per quasi 300 anni.










 Al termine della guerra, Aegon fece fondere le spade prese ai suoi nemici sconfitti e le usò per forgiare il Trono di Spade. Impiegò il resto della sua vita a consolidare il regno e a costruire la sua capitale ad Approdo del Re. Fisicamente appariva come il prototipo del guerriero: alto, possente e forte. In battaglia portava la spada in acciaio di Valyria conosciuta come Blackfyre. In vita cavalcò Balerion il Terrore Nero ma non osò mai tentare di cavalcare i draghi delle sue sorelle.

Aegon Targaryen, the First of His Name, also known as Aegon the Conqueror and Aegon the Dragon, was the conqueror of the Seven Kingdoms and the founder of the ruling Targaryen dynasty of Westeros.Aegon was clearly ambitious. He is described as tall, broad shouldered and powerful in appearance with purple eyes and cut short silver-gold hair. He was very charismatic and commanding. During the Conquest he typically wore a shirt of black scales into battle and wielded hisValyrian steel sword Blackfyre. His crown was a simple circlet of Valyrian steel, set with big square-cut rubies. ^[2]

Aegon was seen as an enigma. He was a solitary person whose only friend was Orys Baratheon. He was a great warrior who wielded a sword called Blackfyre but only rode his dragon for battle or travel and never entered tourneys. He remained faithful to his sisters and left governance in their hands and only took command when necessary. While he was harsh with those who defied him, he was generous to those that bent the knee.^[3]

Aegon was nearly as mysterious to his era as he is to the current era. ^[4]
