All Game of Thrones fans are aware of the name Lyanna Stark. She was the sister of Eddard Stark, and was known to be one of the most beautiful lady in Westeros. More importantly, she was the spark for the most historic event in the history of the series, which is, Robert’s Rebellion. This rebellion crushed the Targaryen dynasty, who had ruled the seven kingdoms for a very, very long time.
And if you’re aware of the name Lyanna, you probably know about Rhaegar Targaryen as well.
Rhaegar was a Targaryen prince, who was the son of the Mad King Aerys Targaryen, and a brother to Daenerys, and Viserys. Rhaegar was the person accused of “kidnapping” Lyanna Stark, because he was enchanted by her beauty ever since the Tourney of Harrenhal.
As Robert’s Rebellion was raging, Rhaegar and Robert clashed at the Trident, where Robert killed him. The Targaryen dynasty crumbled eventually and their reign came to an end. Few with the blood of the Targaryen survived.
Daenerys Targaryen, and Viserys Targaryen survived, along with Jon Snow, who was recently revealed to be Rhaegar and Lyanna’s bastard child.
Well, what do you know! According to Game of Thrones season 7 spoilers, Jon isn’t really a bastard child at all. In fact, Rhaegar Targaryen got married to Lyanna Stark, because it was indeed all mutual. Together, they had Jon. This has huge significance in the world of Game of Thrones. This would mean Jon is not even a bastard. Further, Jon will have the strongest claim at the Iron Throne, even more than Daenerys herself.
Spoilers state that Jon’s real name, which was hinted back in Season 6, will also be revealed at some point in this season. Jon is apparently Aegon Targaryen. I’m pretty sure that D&D have mixed the plotlines of Aegon from the bookd, and Jon Snow. But, we’ll find out soon. Jon’s name and identity was kept a secret because Robert would’ve had him killed.
Since Jon’s true heritage is going to be revealed by Bran and Sam, according to the spoilers, we also have news that Rhaegar and Lyanna’s wedding will indeed be a part of Game of Thrones Season 7.
This is huge, and I’m sure every single fan is hyped for it. That is also where Sam and Bran will figure out Jon is actually a legitimate Targaryen prince. Apparently, Gilly is also going to be of some help in finding Rhaegars marriage status.
That’s all I have for you folks today. I’m sure you all can’t wait to see it, and many of you will probably call it fake. But, let’s see if the spoilers are correct or not.
