DAMASCUS, SYRIA (7:15 P.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army's 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard continued their large-scale advance inside the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus today after foiling two Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) attacks this past weekend.
Backed by the Palestine Liberation Army (Palestinian wing of the SAA) and National Defense Forces (NDF), the Syrian Arab Army's 105th Brigade seized more than 70 percent of Al-Mayda'ani last night, killing scores od Jaysh Al-Islam militants positioned around this rural town in the East Ghouta.
At approximately 4:30 P.M. (Damascus Time), the Syrian Armed Forces made their final push to seize Al-Mayda'ani, attacking Jaysh Al-Islam's final line of defense inside the town.
Not long after launching this final assault, the Syrian Armed Forces overran Jaysh Al-Islam's last line of defense, resulting in the complete capture of Al-Mayda'ani.
As a result of today's advance, the Syrian Armed Forces can turn their attention to the upcoming offensive to capture the primary Jaysh Al-Islam strongholds in the East Ghouta.
